Kathmandu- Construction works at the Middle Marsyangdi Hydropower Project that remain stalled for the last three months are set to resume from Friday after an agreement between the Maoists and the project management.
Reports today said the Maoists who had been hampering the construction works for not getting required amount of donation agreed to allow the works after the project appealed them to be mindful over the soaring losses and the problems faced by the workers.
The rebels had been obstructing the construction works time to time in one pretext or the other. When the project closed down three months ago, over 1000 labourers had lost jobs.
When completed, the 70-megawatt project based in Lamjung will be the second largest power plant in Nepal – after the 144-megawatt Kaligandaki-A.
