The United States has urged the Nepal government for support in its proposal for reforms in the United Nations.
US ambassador to the UN, John Bolton, met Nepal’s permanent representative to the UN, Madhuraman Acharya, on Wednesday and asked for Nepal’s support to its reform agendas, which include some major changes in the structure and role of the Security Council.
Reports quoting Acharya said that during the 40-minute meeting, Nepal’s current political situation and His Majesty King’s election agendas were also discussed.
The US mission to the UN has said that the meeting was a regular one, reports added.
Nepali authorities are yet say anything categorically regarding Nepal’s position over the reform of the world body and the US proposal for support.
The US has suspended its military support to Nepal following the Feb 1 royal move when King Gyanendra assumed direct power.
