General Secretary of the CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that he would seek moral support from the Indian government, people and political leaders for restoring democracy and peace in the country during his week-long visit to India.

Talking to reporters at the Tribhuvan International Airport before his departure to New Delhi today Nepal said, “My visit will focus on mustering moral support and solidarity of the Indian people and the government in the seven-party alliance’s ongoing movement for full-fledged democracy and peace,” according to reports.

Nepal is visiting India at the invitation of the Nepal Democracy Solidarity Committee, headed by CPI (M) leader Harkishan Singh Surjit. UML standing committee member Amrit Kumar Bohara is accompanying Nepal.

Nepal is expected to meet with top ranking officials of the Indian government and top-notch leaders of the Indian political parties during the visit.

He said he would share, among others, the alliance’s idea and stance on current political situation in the country, including the municipal election declared by the government.

Earlier General Secretary Nepal said that he will hold dialogue with the Maoists if they decide to contact him.

General Secretary Nepal is visiting India four days after the alliance of the seven political parties mandated leaders of Nepali Congress and UML to play leading roles for the talks with the Maoists.
