The ‘Sundar Shanta Nepal’ Traveling Peace Concert team put up yet another impressive show at Tansen, Palpa today.
According to the event manger nepa~laya, more than 20,000 people attended the peace concert at the local Tundikhel in Tansen. There were people coming from as far away as Bhairahawa and Butwal, and from neighbouring Syangja district.
“Many people have come here today from the surrounding villages, the number of people here at present is three times more than usual”, said Ram Avatar, 60, who has been selling ‘chana chatpate’ in Tansen for the last 20 years.
The concert began with Deurali Pariwar, a very popular band of Palpa reuniting to appear on stage for the first time in 25 years. The group sang their two old hit numbers of the 70s, ‘Tansen Khasyauli’ and ‘Swinkana ber Chaina’ while also joining Nepathya to sing ‘Chari Maryo Sisai Ko Golile.’ This song originally sung by Deurali Pariwar was a nationwide hit after Nepathya re-sung it.
It was also like home-coming to Kunti Moktan’s hit song ‘Choli Ramro Palpali Dhakako.’ The song that praises ‘Dhaka’, a cloth produced indigenously in Palpa received thunderous applause from the crowd.
The other artistes, Meera Rana, Om Bikram Bista, Sapanashree, Satya Raj/Swaroop Raj Acharya, Jyoti Ghimire and Nepathya enthralled the crowd with their popular numbers while also passing on social messages of peace and harmony.
Palpa Jaycees, Federation of Nepalese Journalists, Palpa Branch and Janta Higher Secondary School were the local co-hosts for the concert. All proceeds will go to support the social initiatives undertaken by these organizations.
The total number of people who have attended the concert has crossed a hundred thousand, the organizers said. The concert also drew thousands of people in Birtamode of Jhapa, Hetauda, Ghorahi, Dang and Dhangadi.
‘Sundar Shanta Nepal’, organized by Himal Association and managed by nepa~laya is a traveling peace concert that aims at bringing together singing artists of different genre onto a single platform with the objective of entertaining the masses while also spreading the message of peace and amity.
