At least three Maoists were killed in separate security actions in Dang and Taplejung districts in the last 24 hours.
A statement issued by the Directorate of Public Relation (DPR) of the Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) said two Maoists were shot dead in Korcha area of Dang district after they opened fire at a security patrol Thursday afternoon.
Security forces recovered one Magnum rifle, two revolvers, grenades, socket bombs, one computer and utensils from the incident site.
Similarly, a Maoist ‘area committee’ member named Arjun Meyangbo was killed in Dumrise area of Taplung district in similar circumstances on Wednesday. The DPR said one firearm, Rs.321 thousand cash and Maoist documents were recovered from the incident site.
The clashes occurred even as the three-month long unilateral ceasefire declared by the Maoists early last month is still in effect.
