Kathmandu- The last day of the nationwide three-day vehicular strike ‘chakkajam’ called by the Maoists affiliated organization- All Nepal Trade Union Federation passed peacefully Thursday with the residents of the Valley defying the strike.
A significant number of vehicles were seen plying the streets. Unlike earlier strikes, several taxis, buses, tempos and private vehicles were seen on the roads. However, all long route services in the country remained at a standstill.
Educational institutions were affected due to the vehicular strike, as school vehicles couldn’t operate today.
According to the countrywide reports, the strike affected vehicular movement in cities like Pokhara, Nepalgunj, Birtamod,Biratnagar, Gaighat, Rajbiraj, Hetauda and almost all district headquarters.
Businesses and shops were open throughout the country.
