Arjun Thapa, assistant officer at the Immigration Department who was being prosecuted on charges of corruption was released on bail of Rs 7.5 million Friday.
The CIAA had filed a case against Thapa after concluding that his assets were not proportionate with his earnings. He was among the 22 revenue officials whose houses were raided by the CIAA five months ago. The CIAA had seized Rs. 35,65,720.75 from Thapa during the raid.
A three-member bench comprising Top Bahadur Magar, Damodar Prasad Sharma and B. Adhikary issued the order for releasing Thapa Friday.
