The government Monday announced a budget of Rs ten million for the reconstruction of Jumla where the physical and development infrastructure was badly destroyed during attacks by Maoist rebels.
National Planning Commission Vice Chairman Dr. Shankhar Sharma told journalists at the face-to-face programme organized by the Reporters’ Club Monday that a bank would be set up at Jumla and the reconstruction work would be intensified.
Sharma said the government would soon depute a Chief District Officer and a Land Revenue Officer to the district. Speaking at the same programme Chairman of the Remote Region Development
Committee of National Assembly, Gaura Koirala said during the on site visit the committee members found that the reconstruction work was taking place at a slow pace.
She said the people in Jumla who were worse hit by the Maoist onslaught had not yet received any relief materials.
