Several students and police were injured in clashes in front of the Tri-Chandra Campus Wednesday afternoon as protesters held a meeting to chart out plans for future protests, eyewitnesses said.
Protesters vandalized traffic signals, iron railings along footpaths and telephone cabinets during day long protests in the capital. Police removed a tree strewn across the road in front of the NEA office to open traffic.
Police and students clashed the whole day as protesters torched buses and other vehicles in Butwal.
Students paraded the town with the body of the slain student, reports from the town said.
Meanwhile, CPN-UML supported the student protest and demanded compensation and action for those responsible for what the party called excesses during the firing, a party statement said. nepalnews.com br April 9
