Visiting Indian Foreign Secretary, Shyam Saran, called on former premier and chairman of Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP), Surya Bahadur Thapa, at the latter’s residence at Maligaon in Kathmandu on Sunday.

Details of the deliberations were not immediately available.
Saran arrived Kathmandu this afternoon. Talking to reporters briefly at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon his arrival, Saran said he looked forward to meet Nepali leaders during his three-day sojourn. He did not provide details.
“It’s like homecoming for me,” the former Indian envoy to Nepal said.
According to sources at the Indian embassy in Kathmandu, Saran is scheduled to call on vice chairmen in the council of ministers, Dr Tulsi Giri, and Kirti Nidhi Bista, on Monday. He will also meet ‘broad cross-section of Nepali political leaders’ during his visit, an official at the embassy said.
Saran is scheduled to hold discussions with senior political leaders including Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala, CPN (UML) general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal and acting president of Nepali Congress (Democratic) Gopal Man Shrestha.
The Indian Foreign Secretary will also hold meetings with senior Nepali officials on a range of bilateral issues, according to reports. His Majesty King Gyanendra is expected to grant audience to him Tuesday morning.
The Indian Foreign Secretary is expected to interact with media prior to his return to Delhi on Tuesday.
Reports earlier said Saran is likely to raise the issue of import of arms by Nepal from China, among others. He may also extend an invitation to the King to visit India, according to reports.
