Kathmandu- With three member countries of the SAARC reeling under the tsunami calamity, the 13th SAARC summit slated for Jan 9-11 in Dhaka, the Bangladeshi capital has been postponed, reports said.

IANS cited a spokesman of the Bangladesh prime minister’s office as saying that the decision was taken on the request of Sri Lanka, the South Asian country worst hit by the Dec 26 disaster.

While contacted by Nepalnews, the SAARC officials stationed in Kathmandu said they did not have any in formation on the postponement.

The new date for the SAARC summit will be set after consultations with SAARC member countries, the report said.
