Lalitpur and Rupandehi districts in central and western region have been given the FIFA’s goal project for the construction of football centers, the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) said Sunday.
FIFA extended a grant amounting to US$ 450,647.64 to ANFA in November last year for the construction of three football centers in Nepal. ANFA is yet to select the third district.
The programme is part of FIFA’s ongoing efforts to promote football in its member countries.
ANFA had formed a technical committee to select the districts out of a number of districts competing for the project. According to ANFA a keen competition is taking place between Sunsari and Jhapa for the construction of the third football center in the eastern region.
ANFA will give its final decision about the third center after three months. FIFA had committed the goal project to Nepal two years back but the internal wrangling for leadership within ANFA had led FIFA to hold back the project for sometime.
Following ANFA’s executive committee elections last year, FIFA released the funds for the project.
