An internal dispute in the ruling RPP will not affect the future of the government of Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa, Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani told a public meeting in Morang Saturday, Radio Nepal said.
Dr. Lohani is on a tour of districts to drum up support for the government while Communications Minister Kamal Thapa returned to the capital Saturday after a similar tour of Pokhara and Makwanpur, his home district.
Government has recorded significant gains in the last five months, Dr. Lohani said. He charged people with personal interest in the RPP were attempting to topple the government. The King had done the RPP proud by appointing Thapa Prime Minister, he said.
Dr. Lohani said the party has overcome two splitting endeavors. Dr. Lohani claimed the government had made important successes in restoring law and order.
President of the Nepali Congress Girija Prasad Koirala Friday in Bhairawa charged the King of trying to split the RPP while one day earlier Kamal Thapa blamed the UML for doing so.
