The central committee members of the Rastriya Prajatantra party (RPP) indicating their growing rift with Prime Minister Chand said Thursday that the party’s ideals could not be compromised in the name of supporting the government.
The central members expressed the above views at the central working committee meeting of the party held Thursday. The members demanded that the relation between the party and the government must be well defined in order to avoid criticism from other mainstream political parties.
The party’s attention was drawn after the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML) along with other mainstream political parties announced that they would no longer have working unity with the RPP as regards demands to revive the exercise of multiparty democracy in the country.
The two major parties have alleged the RPP of not showing clarity on the Royal Proclamation of Oct 4 that dismissed the elected government of Sher Bahadur Deuba.
