Royal couple visiting Janakpur to observe ‘Bibahpanchami’

King Gyanendra and Queen Komal are visiting the ancient city of Janakpur to observe Bibahpanchami festival Thursday afternoon. The Bibahpanchami festival marks the marriage ceremony of Lord Ram and Sita.

According to reports, over 200,000 devotees from Nepal and India are likely to visit Janakpur to participate in the festival. Janakpur is the birth place of goddess Sita.

On the occasion, huge religious fairs are performed in the premises of Ram and Janaki temple. Janaki Temple, dedicated to goddess Sita, is the biggest Hindu temple in Nepal.
