A regional conference of the Raj Parishad is scheduled to be organised in the eastern district of Jhapa from December 25 to 27.

Some 130 representatives are expected to participate in the regional conference, reports today said. Preparations are underway to form an organizing committee under Jhapa District Development Committee (DDC) chairman which will also include DDC chairmen and the chief executives of municipalities of all 16 districts in the eastern region.

The conference is expected to come out with recommendations to the King regarding his future moves vis-à-vis the current political crisis.

Similar conferences of the Raj Parishad last year had demanded active role of the King who subsequently dissolved the four-party government led by Sher Bahadur Deuba on February 1 and constituted a cabinet headed under his chairmanship.
