Pro-Maoist trade union calls off strikes

KATHMANDU: The pro-Maoists group, All Nepal Trade Union Federation (ANTUF) has

withdrawn a nationwide strike it that it had called in the tourism, garment and carpet industries.

The ANTUF had announced a strike in the tourism industry on June 7, 8 and 9 and a strike in the garment and carpet industries on June 4,5 and 6.

On Friday, the ANTUF withdrew the nationwide three-day general strike that it had called on 10-12 June.

Meanwhile, the indefinite educational strike called by the pro-Maoist students is to continue. The indefinite educational strike is scheduled to begin on June 6.
