With the preparations for the seventh General Convention of the largest communist party in the country drawing to an end, senior party leader K.P. Sharma Oli in his political document flashed Saturday said if the King does not correct his ‘unconstitutional moves” then the party should be prepared to launch an all out protest.

Presenting his political document that differs from the party line, Oli said in the present condition it is not possible to have ‘working unity’ with the King. Oli has been advocating for the revival of the Presidential system of leadership in the party while the party mainstream leaders headed by incumbent General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal have been voicing against the proposition.

The post of party president has remained vacant after the death of party president Manmohan Adhikari. The party’s central committee has decided to scrap the post.

According to party sources the final preparations for the General Convention, which is to begin in the historic city of Janakpur is nearing completion. A total of 1,600 representatives will participate in the

convention. There is a clear polarization of those supporting the present system of leadership in the party and the other group supporting the presidential system of leadership.

The party has been divided into two different camps headed by Madhav Kumar Nepal and K.P. Sharma Oli both of whom have been claiming their majority following the elections of representatives to the General Convention.
