Police Monday arrested Shanta Bahadur Thapa, the driver of the jeep used by assailants to flee after assassinating Bhutanese refugee leader R. K. Budhathoki.

However, the main assailant is still absconding. Police said that the main assailant is Ram Chandra Subedi of Pathari refugee camp in Morang.

According to information given to police by driver Thapa, a Bhutanese refugee requested the jeep driver to take him to hospital pretending that he was sick. The driver said the refugee asked him to stop the jeep in middle of the road and fled. He said that he did not know the refugee was the assailant.

Police have also arrested some other refugees in connection with the killing.
