Plans afoot to resettle Maoist affected families

The government is nearly done with its homework to resettle around one thousand families who were displaced in course of the peoples’ war launched by the Maoists.

The Defence Ministry, Home Ministry and the Ministry for Physical Planning and Works and the National Defence Council have been coordinating with each other for establishing the rehabilitation centers in the five development regions of the country.

Defence Secretary Madan Prasad Aryal has said that the consultative meeting among the concerned ministries is beginning from Monday. He said that the talks were being held with the donor agencies for the necessary back up to run the rehabilitation centers.

He said that the government was doing the necessary homework to increase the strength of the Royal Nepal Army by another six thousand soldiers. Aryal also said works to modernize the army were also underway. Aryal was speaking at a programme organized by the Reporters’ Club in the capital Saturday.
