Neighbours at Ekanta Kuna in Jawalakhel where the Shresthas lived said they heard what sounded like early morning bullet shots. “But we were not certain they were bullet shots,” two neighbours said.

The Shresthas leave behind three daughters. One is studying in Manipur in India and the other in New Zealand. Friends and neighbours said the Shresthas will probably be cremated only after the return of their daughters.

The cabinet met Monday morning and condemned what it called the “dastardly terrorist act” which will not deter the police force.
