A new Nepali news channel has been inaugurated on Monday.

Top leaders of the political parties inaugurated the Sagarmatha TV amid a function in Kathmandu.
The channel will begin 18-hour a day transmission, according to Nirmal Gurung, chairman of Sagarmatha TV Pvt Ltd. He said the channel will raise its voice in favour of press freedom and democracy.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Maoist chairman Prachanda and UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal urged the media to help in creating communal harmony and conducive atmosphere for the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections.
