A 16-member delegation of Tibet Autonomous Region of People’s Republic of China arrived in Kathmandu Sunday. The delegation, led by director general of the Tourism Department, is here to discuss issues on how to promote tourism between the two countries.

In the meeting, which was held right after the delegation arrived, Nepal

requested China to permit Nepali airlines to operate their flights to Kailash Mansarovar in Tibet. Kailash Mansarovar is a popular destination for Hindus. Nepal also requested that China allow Nepali airlines to operate direct flights to Lhasa, said Monday’s reports.

There are no reports on what requests China made during the meeting.
