The ruling Nepali Congress (D) and the CPN-UML have reached a consensus on a Common Minimum Program (CMP) after several days of meetings and discussions, reports said Monday.
According to the members of the taskforce formed by the NC (D) and the UML, the CMP got finalised on Saturday evening. “The meeting between Prime Minister Deuba and the general secretary of UML, Madhav Kumar Nepal on Sunday evening was for final discussions regarding the finalized program, ” a member of the taskforce told Nepalnews.
According to Nepal Smacharpatra, one key difference between the parties was the inclusion of the word ‘regression’ in the preamble of the CMP. Nepal reportedly insisted on including the term while PM Deuba had his misgivings.
