There have been minor explosions at the American Center at Gyaneshwore in Kathmandu Friday evening.
According to latest reports, some unidentified persons threw a couple of socket bombs into the compound at around 17:30 hours causing minor damages. There are no reports of casualties as yet. Police said an investigation was underway.
Security personnel rushed to the scene and have cordoned off the area.
Nobody has claimed responsibility for the attack but police suspect Maoist rebels to be responsible for the incident.
Last month, a pro-Maoist trade union had asked the US companies to close down their businesses in Nepal. The CPN (Maoist) has alleged the US of interfering in Nepali affairs and providing military and other assistance to the Nepal government.
