As the nation mourned the death of 13 school children in a Tempo accident in Jhumka of Sunsari district on 9 May, Rato Bangala School in Lalitpur conducted a memorial service on Thursday for the departed souls.
More than 500 students and 50 teachers and staff of the school observed a minute’s silence at the start of the school day and paid tributes in memory of the children. They expressed heartfelt sympathies to the families of the children, their friends and schoolmates and the citizens of the town of Jhumka.
The school also conducted discussions in each class on the status of school transport in Nepal and looked at ways that tragedies like these could be prevented in future.
