At least four policemen including an inspector were killed in a Maoist attacked at the Ilaka Police Post at Sankhu, suburban Kathmandu, Saturday evening.
Dozens of Maoist gunmen stormed the police post at around 4:45 p.m., killing four policemen on the spot. Eyewitnesses said the Maoists who came on buses and taxies attacked the police post after putting obstructions on a bridge nearby the police post to block traffic.
Three policemen injured in the attack have been undergoing treatment at Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital, Sankhu.
Police told Nepalnews that dead body of a Maoist has been recovered form the incident site. Backup forces have been sent to the area. Details of the incident are yet to come.
