Notwithstanding their announcement for three-month long ceasefire Maoists abducted over 300 people from different Village Development Committees VDC’s of Panchthar districts and took them to an undisclosed location, reports said.

Maoists abducted them from Bharapa, Subhang, Panchami, Tharpu, Yoyang and Nagi VDCs of the district, saying they would have to participate in an area-level training programme of the Maoists, reports quoted locals as saying.

The abductees include teachers, students, professionals, house workers and farmers.

The whereabouts of all people is yet to be known.
