Maoist attack repulsed

Security forces repulsed a Maoist attack Friday along the Dharan, Dhankuta Highway, Radio Nepal said quoting local security agencies. Security forces recovered powerful pipe and socket bombs and equipment after a gun battle, the Radio said.

Meanwhile, Maoists have asked 12 boarding schools in Palpa to close down by Monday threatening the future of 9,000 students, a published report said.

Maoists have assured a search team UML activist Meghnath Paudel being held at an undisclosed place in Dolakha will be released, team members said Friday. Paudel is Dolakha district committee member of the UML.
