Nepal Transport Free Labourers’ Organisation and Nepal Transport Free Labourers’ Association on Friday warned of indefinite vehicular strike throughout Nepal, if their 16-point demands are not met.
“We will launch a symbolic agitation on December 3 and 11 bringing the vehicular movement to a standstill for 15 and 30 minutes respectively,” Dharma Bhandari, general secretary of the Association said in a press meet Friday.
“If the government does not heed to our problems even then, we will then go for indefinite strike,” he said.
Some of the 16-point demands put forth by the transport labourers include a slash in license fee, provision for providing appointment letters to transport employees and implementation of the recommendations forwarded by the National Transportation Policy Work Team in 1998, among others.
