UML, the main opposition in parliament, Sunday registered amendments to the government’s proposal to reduce land ceiling claiming the government bill is not revolutionary and will not provide adequate land to nearly one million landless after acquisition.

Members of the ruling Nepali Congress Party and the opposition registered altogether eight amendment proposals in parliament. Deuba’s controversial bill to reduce land ceiling has been opposed by some sections of the ruling party and the entire opposition for various reasons.

Earlier, parliament proceedings were disrupted for nearly a fortnight by members of the Rashtriya Prajatantra Party and the Nepal Sadbavana Party demanding a ceiling on property instead of land.
