Laborers of different industries of Sunsari and Morang district organized protest against the proposed amendment in the labor act, reports said.
Starting from Martyr ground of Biratnagar the protest rally passed through major thoroughfares of the city before converging into an assembly at Mahendra Chowk.
Addressing the assembly Eastern Region coordinator of the Nepal Trade union Federation Om Koirala said that the proposed act gives the message that the government is not in favor of resolving the conflict. He even warned to take stringent action against the provision of hire and fire in the proposed amendment.
He even charged the government for amending the act in favor of entrepreneurs. Pushkar Acharya of Nepal Trade Union Congress said that whether the government wants to force all labor carry weapons through such amendment.
Meanwhile laborers of more than 300 industries of Sunsari organized sit-in protest program in front of the main gate of the industries protesting the amendment.
Laborers of Ithari, Khanar, Sonapur, Duhabi and Jhumka industrial area of Sunsari district also organized rally protesting the amendment in the labor Act which they say deprive them from their rights.
