King Gyanendra said Tuesday’s attacks on targets in Washington D.C. and New York were acts of inhumanity. “They must be condemned  as crimes against humanity and the perpetrators brought to justice,” His Majesty said in a condolence message to President George W. Bush. His Majesty described the attacks as “horrific acts of terrorism” and went on to say “such cowardly acts violate all international norms and human dignity.”

“Nepal believes that all countries must join hands in combating and eliminating terrorism from the world,” the King said. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said the “attacks have come as a deep shock to us all at this hour of great tragedy.

His Majesty’s Government of Nepal strongly condemns this act of terrorism. On this sad occasion, I reiterate the unequivocal condemnation by His Majesty’s Government of Nepal of all forms and manifestations of terrorism,’ he said in a separate message to the American President.
