A day after holding consultations with Nepali Congress (Democratic) President Sher Bahadur Deuba King Gyanendra granted an hour long audience to former President of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Surya Bahadur Thapa at the Royal Palace Tuesday.

King Gyanendra who has drawn a lot of criticism from the political parties after making the Royal proclamation on October 4 is working towards addressing the present political stalemate through mutual consultations.

The Chand government which has completed its 100 days in office has been charged of failing to carry out the mandated tasks of restoring law and order in the country and holding the local and parliamentary elections at the earliest possible.

Former Prime Minister and President of the Nepali Congress Girija Prasad Koirala too seems to have toned down his protest against the King. Koirala who had initially been voicing strongly against the King has recently said that the existing problem could only be addressed through the close coordination between the King and the political parties.

King Gyanendra according to sources will continue to hold consultations with different political leaders and the social elites to address the existing political problems.
