King grants audience to Shyam Saran

His Majesty King Gyanendra granted an audience to visiting Indian foreign secretary Shyam Sharan at the Narayanhiti Royal Palace this morning.

His Majesty and the Indian Foreign Secretary conversed on a range of bilateral issues during the one-and-half-hour long meeting, which began at 11:00 a.m., it is learnt.

After the audience with the King, Foreign Minister Ramesh Nath Pandey and Saran had a lunch meeting at Pandey’s residence, a source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Earlier this morning, Saran held separate meetings with Nepali Congress president and former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and CPN (UML) general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal, discussing the current political situation in Nepal and its possible solution.

The Indian Foreign Secretary who arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday met leaders of major political parties and senior government officials including cabinet vice-chairman Kirti Nidhi Bista during his stay.
