Kathmandu Tuesday received 1.4 mm of winter rainfall, the  Department of Meteorology and Hydrology said Wednesday. The drizzle was the first “Maghee Jhari” of the Nepali month of Magh when winter rains are normal before the end of a two month winter spell and onset of spring.

The minimum temperature Wednesday morning was 8 degrees Celcius indicating temperatures are rising with the end of winter approaching. The skies over the capital were overcast Wednesday morning.

The terai region was hit by an unprecedented cold wave one month ago.
