Indian Foreign Minister Jaswant Singh said India is opposed to Maoist terrorism. “Wherever there is terrorism, we oppose it. In Nepal, we openly opposed the Maoists,” he told an Indian television channel.

“We support the King of Nepal and the Nepal government of Sher Bahadur Deuba .We are with them in their fight against the Maoists,” he said.

New Delhi’s firm support to the king and government against Maoists should help Deuba negotiate a peace or pursue a hard-line policy towards the rebels to end a communist insurgency that has claimed more than 1,800 lives in nearly six years.
