Nepal today ratified two ILO conventions relating to elimination of child labour. The conventions ratified are convention concerning Forced or Compulsory Labour and convention concerning the elimination of Worst Forms of Child Labour.

The House of Representatives, Lower House of Parliament, ratified the two  conventions unanimously when Minister for Labour Palten Gurung presented the ILO conventions for ratification. With the ratification of the convention, Nepal is now obliged to implement the provisions of the conventions.

These two conventions seek to eliminate child labour. The General Conference of International Labour Organisation had adopted these conventions and asked its members states to ratify thems.
