KATHMANDU, Jan. 14: The Ministry of Education and Sports has published a statement here today stating that HMG has decided to introduce a 29 point programme for timely improvements in connection with various problems in the educational sector, and the programme has been sent to all the concerned agencies for implementation.
It has come to light that the Public and Boarding Schools Association of Nepal (PABSON) has decided to abide by the 11 point code of conduct including a cut in the monthly fees in view of the grievances of teachers, students and guardians alike.
Calling on all concerned to see to the effective implementation of the 29 point programme, the statement has requested the regional education directorates and district education offices to regularly monitor things and send a progress report to the Department of Education and the Ministry. Handover: Meanwhile, Minister for Education and Sports Devi Prasad Ojha handed over the Himalaya Primary School building at Thimi Municipality ward No. 3 to the school amid a function here today. The school built with earthquake resistant technology has been completed at a total cost of Rs. 715,000 provided by the donor agency “room to read”, Madhyapur Thimi Municipality, the DDC and the district education office and with voluntary labour.
On the occasion, Minister Ojha said that as houses, schools and other buildings are affected by even minor earthquakes, earthquake resistant technology should be applied while carrying out construction work hereafter.
On the occasion, Ojha also gave away commendation letters to Krishna bahadur Karmacharya, Pancha Bahadur Khyaju, Satrughan Kasula and some others for their special contribution to the construction work.
Stating that being aware of earthquake hazard is also one means of safety, Minister Ojha said that the construction of the school would be a source of inspiration to one and all.
Director General of the Department of Education Satya Bahadur Shrestha, General Secretary of the National Seismological Society Amod Mani Dikshit, headmaster of the school Prakash Man Karmacharya and a host of other speakers also expressed their views at the programme chaired by former mayor of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality Madan Krishna Shrestha.
