Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that his government was ready for holding peace talks to resolve the ongoing insurgency in the country, but will switch over to ‘arms’ if that does not work.

Talking briefly to journalists on Sunday evening at the TIA on his return from a five-day long visit to India, PM Deuba said, “We are for talks by all means. But will switch to tougher means if that does not serve any purpose.”

He said that Nepal succeeded in gaining Indian cooperation in Nepal’s fight against insurgency.

Deuba further added that India was positive regarding promoting mutual cooperation for water resources development, construction of postal road, flood control, resolution of the problem in the border area and enhancing economic assistance among others.

An agreement was reached on expansion of transport between the two countries, Deuba elaborated. nepalnews.com pd Sep 13 04
