Govt. mulling to hold local level elections in June

Deputy Prime Minister Badri Prasad Mandal who is also looking after the Local Development Ministry told the meeting of the Delegated Legislation Committee Friday that work was underway to hold the local level elections by the mid of June in several phases.

He also informed the Committee that the cabinet was carrying out the necessary homework to fix the dates for the elections to the local bodies. Mandal said the government was trying to seek the consensus of the political parties regarding the date for the local level polls.
