The Land Revenue Office issued a 35-day public notice stating that the land, located in the buffer zone of Royal Bardiya National Park would be registered in the names of Luv Shumsher JB Rana, Siddhi Sumsher JB Rana, Bel Sumsher JB Rana and Phanindra Sumsher JB Rana.
The Land Revenue Office notice stated that the land registered in the name of Bel Shumsher would be transferred to his kin as he has already died.
On behalf of the Ranas, Som Shumsher Rana had written to Dr Giri claiming that they missed out the registration of the land in the 2021 BS survey. On the basis of the claim, Dr Giri ordered the Ministry of Land Reforms to provide the land to the Ranas.
Organizing a press conference on Saturday the District Development Committee Bardiya has seriously objected to the move by Dr Giri, according to reports.
Talking to journalists Pramod Bikram Rana, DDC chairman said that he would strongly protest if the registration process was not stopped immediately. Friday’s meeting of the DDC also urged Dr. Giri to reconsider his decision to check the inappropriate deed.
However, there was no comment from the government or Dr Giri on the issue.
