General Thapa completes goodwill visit to China

Chief of the Army Staff, General Pyar Jung Thapa, returned home Sunday after completing a eight-day-long official visit to the People’s Republic of China.

While in China, Thapa held meetings and talks top officials of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army and requested further Chinese support to combat the Maoist insurgency. Thapa met chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), State Councilor and Defense Secretary, chief of the general staff of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) along with senior military officials, said a press statement issued by the Directorate of the Public Relations of the Royal Nepalese Army said.

Lieutenant General Sadip Bahadur Shah welcomed Thapa at Tribhuvan International Airport.
