Security forces shot dead four Maoists in fresh unspecified dates in Khotang and Surkhet, the Defence Ministry said Thursday.

An injured man died en route to hospital after security forces freed him from rebels who had abducted him in Bardia Saturday, the Ministry said. Security forces recovered two 303 rifles, four loaded magazines of LMGs and explosives from clash sites in Surkhet and Khotang, the Ministry said.

Security forces recovered a hidden pistol from Taplejung Thursday. An army bomb disposal unit defused banner bombs at Tripura in Dolpa Thursday, the Ministry said.

Locals in Banke Thursday handed over 20 guns and 39 bullets to security forces, an official announcement said.
