Kathmandu District Court Wednesday awarded 25 day prison sentences and a Rs.10,000 each on eight Iraqis for entering the country from Tribhuvan International Airport on March 13 illegally on forged French and Belgian passports, court sources said.

But they were later released from prison where they had been incarcerated for 25 days during the hearing. They flew into the county from Bangkok. The Court is hearing cases of three more Iraqis.

Immigration officials said the group was attempting to fly to Europe from Kathmandu after fleeing the war in their homeland. nepalnews.com br April 10
