His Majesty the King has said that efforts are underway to restore peace in the country as per the people’s aspiration.
Giving directives to the chairmen and vice-chairmen of the District Development Committees of six districts of Gandaki zone at the Gandaki zonal office in Pokhara Sunday, the King said peace will be restored in the country if those who have gone astray come back for the sake of people and love for the nation.
The King also directed vice-chairmen and their deputies to develop the western region especially the regional headquarter Pokhara from tourism perspective as it has various tourism spots and religious sites.
The King directed them to preserve the cultural and tourism spots to develop it as a spot for internal tourism as well.
Directing chairmen and their deputies in Pokhara, the King also asked the authorities that it should be studied whether the regional or International airport should be constructed in Pokhara. The King also assured that he would take up the issue immediately after returning to the capital.
On the occasion Gandaki Zonal Administrator Kumar Bahadur Karki briefed their Majesties about the situation of the zone.
After the zonal administration office, Their Majesties went to Regional Administration Office to acquire information about the region.

Western Regional Administrator Chhatra Bikram Shah briefed Their Majesties about the situation of Western region.
Stating that the region has complex geographical locations the King stressed on the need to expedite road linking remote western parts of the country so that the western Terai region could be linked with the upper Himalayan region of the country.
The King also directed them to work to meet the people’s aspirations. The King said that it was their duty to the nation.
Their Majesties the King and the Queen visited Pokhara, the zonal headquarter of gandaki Zone in course of the unofficial visit to the western development region to assess the situation of the area.
Their Majesties directly interacted with the people and listened to their grievances for over 6 hours with keen interest on their way to zonal administration office in Sahid Chowk from Ratna temple palace where Their Majesties were staying.
Their Majesties will return Capital on Monday.
Their Majesties left Kathmandu on Tuesday for an unofficial visit of the western development region to access the situation there. Their Majesties had visited the Baglunj, the zonal headquarter of Dhaulagiri zone and Butwal, the zonal headquarter of the Lumbini zone.
Earlier, King Gyanendra had visited districts in the eastern, mid and far-western and central region of Nepal after the Royal takeover of February 1 to access the security situation of the regions and to listen to the grievances of the local people.
