Early polls must to safeguard democracy

LALITPUR, Jan. 14: Leaders of different political parties have requested the government to hold the general election at the earliest in order to preserve democracy.

Participants of an interaction programme on ‘ way-out of the present crisis and election of constituency assembly’ organised by Jana Morcha, Lalitpur here today pointed out the need for early election at a time when local bodies and Parliament are sans people’s representatives.

They stressed the need of collective effort from all political forces for settling the present situation of terror and disorder caused mainly by Maoists.

Speaking on the occasion were chairman of Jana Morcha Nepal Amik Sherchan, President of Nepal Workers and Peasants’ Party Narayan Man Bijukchhe, co-ordinator of CPN- Marxist-Leninist C. P. Mainali and representatives of Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, RPP and other parties.
