KATHMANDU: Dr. I.P. Singh, an old Nepal hand and a former career diplomat, has been appointed Indian Ambassador to Nepal, the Foreign Ministry said Thursday. Dr. Singh joined the ruling Bhariataya Janata Party in recent years after retirement.

Dr.Singh was Deputy Chief of Mission in Kathmandu in the 1970’s. He succeeds Deb Mukharji, a career diplomat, who retires this month.

Dr.Singh has authored a book on ‘diplomatery” arguing a nexus between diplomacy and mathematics.
