The Chinese government Thursday concerned with developments in Nepal said “China as a cordial and friendly neighbour is very much concerned about the latest situation in Nepal,” a spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in Beijing.

The Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu said “His Majesty the King and His Majesty’s Government have already adopted effective and contingency measures, and the situation is under control of the government.” The Chinese government also hoped peace, stability and development will be restored.

Russia “resolutely condemns terrorism and is observing with anxiety a new round of violence initiated by the leftist extremists in Nepal.” The Russian Federation supports the intentions of the Nepalese government aimed at securing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, SAARC Secretary General Nihal Rodrigo reiterated Thursday the delayed 11th summit of the South Asian regional body will be held in Kathmandu from January 4 to 6.
