Representatives of the diplomatic missions of USA, UK, France, Germany, China, India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) reaffirmed their support to the government of Nepal at an interaction programme held in Dhulikhel Wednesday. The programme was held at Mirabel Resort.

Ambassadors of the above countries participated in an interaction programme with Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand, Minister for Information and Communications Ramesh Nath Pandey and Minister for Foreign Affairs Narendra Bikram Shah.

“The donor countries have appreciated the works of the present government carried out in the past six months and have pledged to give continuity to the support that they have been giving to Nepal,” Minister Pandey told the press at the end of the meeting.

He said that the World Bank report had also praised the achievements of the government made in the past one year. The World Bank report has pointed out that the present situation is the fall out of the failure on the part of the Nepali Congress government to give good governance to the people despite being voted to power with a majority.

Pandey dismissed rumours that the donor community was mulling to withdraw financial support to the government of Nepal citing delayed elections to the local bodies and the House of Representatives.

He said the homework to hold the local elections was at its final stage and the people would be informed about it very soon.
